This game is the first ever freeware sequel that I have anxiously been looking forward to, and it certainly didn't disappoint. From the outset this game oozes care and professionism that many freeware games lack, and it is this that excited me most.
So what is different about this game from its predecessor? Well, to put it simple - everything. So, the basic idea may be the same - you're a magician and you have to battle other magicians on a fairytale island. But where the original was a flat island on which you fought with one of the 4 elemental spells (depending on which character you chose to be) this game allows you to use the four elements in different spells across a 3D map with hills and bunkers.
Fighting only one enemy in this game takes away a bit of fun, but with the addition of multiple spells causing drastically different effects (wind causes a whirlwind, fire a fireball, etc.) the game has more room for experimentation. Also, with an AI-enemy setting, you actually have a battle to beat the computer this time. So a perfect game? Perhaps...
I simply cannot fault this game, yet I have this feeling while I play it that I should expect more. But more what? I don't know, just more. I think the problem is that this game is so well put together, you expect the depth that commerical games on the marker possess. But perhaps I'm just expecting too much, especially from one person in 3 months.
